Five-Star 2027 Wing Moussa Kamissoko Locks In Nine Official Visits
One of the most highly sought-after prospects in the 2027 class is preparing for a busy stretch on the recruiting trail.
Five-star Long Island Lutheran wing Moussa Kamissoko has scheduled nine official visits over the next two months, with Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia, Oklahoma State, BYU, Illinois, UConn, Louisville and Baylor all set to host the New York standout. The visits will give Kamissoko an opportunity to evaluate programs from several different conferences and playing styles before moving closer to a college decision.
His current official visit schedule is:
Florida State: Aug. 28-30
Syracuse: Sept. 3-4
Virginia: Sept. 5-6
Oklahoma State: Sept. 12-13
BYU: Sept. 15-17
Illinois: Sept. 18-20
UConn: Sept. 25-27
Louisville: Oct. 6-7
Baylor: Oct. 16-18
The nine visits represent a significant stage in Kamissoko's recruitment. Rather than narrowing his options to only a few schools before the fall, he will get an up-close look at a wide range of programs before making his next move.
Who is Moussa Kamissoko?
Kamissoko has developed into one of the premier wings in the 2027 class during his time at Long Island Lutheran in New York and with the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit.
His rise has been backed up by his production.
Playing with PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer, Kamissoko averaged 16.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 35 percent from three-point range.. Earlier in the spring, he averaged 18.0 points and 7.6 rebounds through the first two EYBL sessions while shooting 53 percent from the field and 38 percent from three.
Those numbers highlight much of what makes Kamissoko intriguing at the next level. He has the size to play multiple spots, can attack in transition, finish around the basket and has made progress as a perimeter shooter.
His physical tools also provide significant defensive upside. With a wingspan reported between 6-foot-11 and 7 feet, Kamissoko has the length to potentially defend several positions. He is especially dangerous in the open floor, where his combination of long strides, athleticism and finishing ability can make him difficult to contain.
There are still areas for development. Adding strength should help him deal with physical defenders and finish more consistently through contact, while continuing to improve his decision-making in the half court could take his offensive game to another level. But his combination of size, athletic ability and scoring upside gives him one of the more intriguing long-term profiles among wings in the class.
Breaking Down the Nine Schools
Florida State — Aug. 28-30
Florida State gets the first opportunity to host Kamissoko officially.
The Seminoles' place at the front of the schedule gives them an early chance to establish the standard against which Kamissoko can compare his other visits. For a long, athletic wing like Kamissoko, the fit will largely come down to how the staff presents his role and development plan.
Being first does not guarantee anything in a recruitment this competitive, but Florida State gets the benefit of making the first full official-visit impression.
Syracuse — Sept. 3-4
Syracuse is an especially interesting school to watch because of its proximity to Kamissoko's home state and its continued pursuit of high-level talent in the Northeast.
The Orange will host him from Sept. 3-4, immediately before his trip to Virginia. Kamissoko has been on Syracuse's radar for an extended period, with the Orange among the programs that offered him before his recruitment exploded nationally.
For Syracuse, getting Kamissoko on campus is significant. He has the type of positional versatility that could translate well to the ACC, and keeping an elite prospect from New York closer to home would be a major recruiting win.
Virginia — Sept. 5-6
Kamissoko will go directly from Syracuse to Charlottesville for his Virginia visit.
Ryan Odom and his staff have made Kamissoko one of their major targets in the 2027 cycle. Virginia is attempting to establish itself with several elite prospects, and getting a player of Kamissoko's caliber on campus is another indication of the staff's ambition on the recruiting trail.
The Cavaliers will have an opportunity to sell Kamissoko on a role that utilizes his versatility rather than locking him into one position. His ability to attack, run the floor and potentially create mismatches at multiple spots makes the basketball fit worth monitoring.
Oklahoma State — Sept. 12-13
Oklahoma State will have an opportunity to make a major impression when Kamissoko travels to Stillwater.
His visit coincides with a significant weekend on campus, as Oklahoma State football is scheduled to host Oregon. That atmosphere could give the Cowboys a chance to show Kamissoko the broader energy surrounding the athletic department in addition to selling him on Steve Lutz's basketball program.
For Oklahoma State, simply making this nine-school group is meaningful considering the national programs involved. Landing Kamissoko would give the Cowboys a potential centerpiece on the wing and represent a major recruiting victory for Lutz and his staff.
BYU — Sept. 15-17
BYU has become increasingly aggressive in pursuing elite national prospects, and Kamissoko is another example.
His trip to Provo will be one of the more intriguing visits on the schedule because BYU can offer a different environment from several of the other programs involved. The Cougars will have a chance to outline how Kamissoko's offensive versatility and shooting development could translate into their system.
With BYU competing against programs such as UConn, Louisville, Illinois and Baylor, getting a multi-day visit gives the staff an important opportunity to build the relationship.
Illinois — Sept. 18-20
Illinois continues to make its presence felt with highly ranked 2027 prospects.
Brad Underwood and his staff offered Kamissoko in May and have since secured an official visit. The Illini have been assembling an impressive list of elite visitors, and Kamissoko adds another five-star name to that group.
There is an intriguing basketball fit as well. Kamissoko's ability to play on the wing, attack in space and potentially defend multiple positions gives Illinois several ways it could utilize him.
The Illini have made recruiting versatile, athletic players a priority, and Kamissoko fits that description.
UConn — Sept. 25-27
UConn stands out immediately on any recruiting list because of the program's recent success and national profile.
For Kamissoko, the visit should provide an opportunity to see how he might develop within a demanding college environment. His size, length and two-way potential are traits that give him considerable upside, and his recruitment will likely come down in part to which staff can best demonstrate how it will maximize those tools.
The Huskies also represent a relatively accessible option for a prospect playing his high school basketball on Long Island, giving UConn another potential selling point.
Louisville — Oct. 6-7
Louisville has aggressively pursued high-end talent under Pat Kelsey, and Kamissoko will get his look at the Cardinals in early October.
Kelsey has quickly made Louisville a factor with nationally ranked recruits, and the Cardinals' inclusion among Kamissoko's nine visits continues that trend. Louisville has landed five-star talent in consecutive recruiting classes entering this recruitment, illustrating the level at which the program is attempting to operate.
For Kamissoko, Louisville can pitch opportunity, a passionate basketball environment and a program intent on competing nationally.
Baylor — Oct. 16-18
Baylor will get the final scheduled official visit, and there is an important connection to monitor.
Kamissoko attends Long Island Lutheran, a program Baylor knows extremely well. The Bears have previously landed LuHi standouts VJ Edgecombe, Kayden Mingo and Dylan Mingo, giving Scott Drew and his staff an established pipeline into the program.
That familiarity could become important late in the process.
Baylor is scheduled to host Kamissoko from Oct. 16-18, meaning the Bears will get the final opportunity among his currently scheduled visits to make their case in person. Baylor already has four-star point guard Tyrone Jamison committed in the 2027 class, and adding Kamissoko would give the Bears another major building block.
Where Does the Recruitment Stand?
At this point, Kamissoko's recruitment appears legitimately open.
Nine official visits is a substantial number, and the variety of programs involved suggests that he is willing to evaluate different situations rather than focusing exclusively on geography, conference or traditional recruiting power.
There are also notable programs with scholarship offers that are not currently included in the visit schedule. Kentucky offered Kamissoko in May, while Alabama, Villanova and NC State are among the other schools that have been involved but are not part of the current nine-visit run.
That makes the upcoming stretch especially important.
Kamissoko will essentially spend seven weeks comparing coaching staffs, player-development plans, offensive systems, campus environments and potential roles. With programs from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and Big East represented, there is no obvious single profile he appears to be targeting.
One factor worth watching is relationships.
Baylor has obvious Long Island Lutheran connections. Syracuse has recruited him since before his national breakout. Illinois offered during his strong spring and summer rise. Programs such as Virginia, Oklahoma State and Louisville have also made him a priority as his recruitment has expanded.
Another will be role and development.
Kamissoko's long-term ceiling is tied to his versatility. At 6-foot-7 or 6-foot-8 with significant length, he has the potential to become much more than a traditional small forward. If his handle, shooting consistency and playmaking continue developing, he could eventually be used across several perimeter positions.
The program that convinces him it can develop those areas while allowing him to play through his strengths could ultimately separate itself.
For now, however, there is plenty of basketball left to be played and plenty of campuses left to see.
Starting with Florida State on Aug. 28 and concluding with Baylor on Oct. 18, Kamissoko is about to get an extensive look at nine programs pursuing him as a major piece of their 2027 recruiting classes.
By the end of that stretch, one of the most important recruitments in the 2027 cycle should have considerably more clarity.
