2027 Top-30 Prospect Devin Cleveland Schedules Four Official Visits

One of the top guards in the 2027 class is beginning to take the next major steps in his recruitment.

Four-star guard Devin Cleveland has scheduled four official visits for this fall, with trips set to Alabama, TCU, Missouri and Michigan, according to Rivals’ Joe Tipton. The 6-foot-3 La Lumiere School standout will begin his official-visit schedule in September and currently has trips planned through early November.

Cleveland’s official visit schedule:

  • Alabama: September 18-20

  • TCU: September 24-26

  • Missouri: October 3-4

  • Michigan: November 6-8

Cleveland is coming off a strong junior season at La Lumiere, where he played against some of the best high school competition in the country. In EYBL Scholastic play, he averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game, shooting 45 percent from the field, 47 percent from three and 82 percent at the free-throw line. His perimeter shooting is one of the most intriguing parts of his offensive profile, particularly when combined with his ability to create offense with the ball.

His recruitment now enters an important stretch with four programs getting an opportunity to host him officially.

Alabama

Alabama will get the first official visit when Cleveland travels to Tuscaloosa from September 18-20.

The fit between Cleveland and the Crimson Tide is easy to understand. Nate Oats' program has built its identity around pace, spacing, three-point shooting and guards capable of making decisions with the ball. Cleveland's ability to shoot off the catch and create his own offense gives Alabama plenty to work with.

The Crimson Tide's interest in Cleveland also comes as Alabama continues to prioritize high-level guards in the 2027 class. His 47-percent mark from three in EYBL Scholastic competition stands out for a program that places significant value on perimeter shooting and efficient offense.

For Cleveland, the trip should provide an opportunity to see how Alabama envisions using him within its guard-heavy system. The Crimson Tide are competing with several programs that already have considerable familiarity with Cleveland, so getting him on campus early in the official-visit process could be important.

TCU

Cleveland will make a quick turnaround following Alabama, traveling to TCU for an official visit from September 24-26.

The Horned Frogs have remained in the picture as Cleveland has trimmed his list, surviving a recruitment that once included a much larger group of programs. TCU was included alongside Alabama, Arkansas, Marquette, Michigan, Missouri and Syracuse when Cleveland announced his final seven in late July.

Compared with some of the other finalists, there has been less public attention surrounding TCU's recruitment of Cleveland. That makes the official visit particularly significant. It gives the Horned Frogs an opportunity to make their strongest impression and show Cleveland how he would fit into their long-term plans.

With Alabama and TCU coming on consecutive weekends, Cleveland should get an early chance to compare two different environments and visions for his game.

Missouri

Missouri has been one of the programs most consistently connected with Cleveland, and the Tigers will host him from October 3-4.

There is already significant familiarity between the two sides. Cleveland made two trips to Missouri earlier this offseason, visiting Columbia on May 16 and July 16, before scheduling his official visit. Missouri was also the first official visit Cleveland publicly locked in after announcing his final seven.

That history makes Missouri one of the schools to watch closely as Cleveland moves deeper into the process.

Dennis Gates and his staff have had multiple opportunities to build their relationship with Cleveland, and the October trip will give the Tigers another chance to separate themselves. His official visit is scheduled for the weekend of Missouri's home football game against Florida, giving the staff an opportunity to show Cleveland a game-weekend atmosphere in Columbia.

There has already been some outside recruiting chatter suggesting Missouri has positioned itself well, although Cleveland's recruitment remains open with several major programs involved.

Michigan

Michigan will currently get the final scheduled official visit, hosting Cleveland from November 6-8.

Few programs in Cleveland's recruitment have as much history with him as the Wolverines.

Cleveland has previously visited Ann Arbor, including an unofficial visit on March 8 for Michigan's matchup with Michigan State. He also visited the program earlier in his high school career.

The dynamic has changed since those trips, with Mike Boynton Jr. now leading the Michigan program, but an important connection remains on staff. Cleveland has built a relationship with Michigan assistant Akeem Miskdeen, another Chicago native, over the past several years.

Following Michigan's coaching change, Cleveland said that Miskdeen reached out to reinforce the program's continued interest. Cleveland also indicated that he is looking forward to developing a relationship with Boynton and learning how his game could fit into Michigan's plans moving forward.

That makes the November official especially intriguing. Michigan had established significant momentum with Cleveland before the transition, and the upcoming trip will give the new-look staff an opportunity to maintain, and potentially strengthen, that position.

Where Things Stand

Cleveland's recruitment appears to be entering its most important stage.

Missouri and Michigan have the advantage of already getting Cleveland on campus multiple times, while Alabama and TCU now have their first scheduled official visits and an opportunity to make up ground. Arkansas, Marquette and Syracuse remain in Cleveland's final seven despite not being included in this initial group of four official visits.

Arkansas is another program worth monitoring because of Cleveland's longstanding connections to members of the Razorbacks' staff. Assistant Chin Coleman is a fellow Chicago native who has known Cleveland's father for decades, while Cleveland has also developed familiarity with other members of John Calipari's staff.

Marquette has history in the recruitment as well, with Cleveland having previously visited the Golden Eagles. Syracuse entered the picture later, offering Cleveland in July, but the Orange remain among his seven finalists and are reportedly working to get him on campus for an official visit.

Cleveland has previously indicated that he wants to visit his finalists before reaching a decision, with a potential commitment timeline around late December or early January.

For now, the four scheduled officials give the clearest indication yet of where his recruitment is headed.

Alabama gets the first opportunity to make an official-visit impression. TCU follows less than a week later. Missouri has arguably built the most recent campus familiarity, while Michigan gets the final scheduled visit and has years of relationship-building to lean on.

With four visits spread across September, October and November and three other finalists still working to stay involved, Cleveland's recruitment should be one of the more closely watched guard recruitments in the 2027 class this fall.
