2027 5-Star Malachi Jordan Schedules Five Official Visits

The recruitment of 2027 five-star wing Malachi Jordan is entering a pivotal stage.

One of the most highly regarded prospects in the country, Jordan has scheduled five official visits this fall as he continues to evaluate some of the biggest programs in college basketball. The 6-foot-7 wing will visit USC, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and UConn over the next several weeks, giving each program an opportunity to make its case as his recruitment moves toward its next stage.

Jordan’s current visit schedule is:

• USC: September 4-6

• Kansas: September 11-13

• Vanderbilt: September 18-20

• Tennessee: September 25-27

• UConn: October 4-6

Jordan Narrows His Recruitment

Jordan significantly narrowed his recruitment in July, cutting his list to eight programs: Alabama, Kansas, Ohio State, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Vanderbilt and Washington.

Washington is the only program from his current group that Jordan has already officially visited. The five trips scheduled this fall will give USC, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and UConn their opportunity to host him before he ultimately makes his decision.

Alabama and Ohio State remain firmly in the picture despite not being included in the current five-visit schedule, while Washington remains another school with an established relationship with the talented wing.

A Versatile Wing With High-Level Potential

Jordan's appeal starts with his size and versatility.

At approximately 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds, he possesses the physical tools to impact the game in a variety of ways. He has the ability to score from the perimeter, attack closeouts, facilitate for teammates and defend multiple positions.

His versatility is a major reason he has attracted interest from virtually every level of college basketball.

Jordan has also made development one of the central themes of his recruitment. Speaking recently about what he is looking for in his eventual college destination, Jordan emphasized the importance of finding a program that can maximize his potential and prepare him for the professional level.

That focus could make the upcoming official visits particularly important. Rather than simply choosing the biggest name, Jordan appears to be searching for the program that provides the best combination of development, relationships, opportunity and fit.

UConn Has Made a Strong Impression

Among the programs pursuing Jordan, UConn has already established a particularly strong relationship with the five-star prospect.

Jordan has spoken regularly with head coach Dan Hurley and associate head coach Kimani Young, and the Huskies have given him a clear vision for how he could fit into their program.

Jordan specifically pointed to Hurley's ability to develop players as one of the biggest factors attracting him to UConn.

He also revealed that UConn sees him in a role similar to former Huskies star Stephon Castle, a versatile perimeter player capable of making an impact on both ends of the floor.

That type of role could be particularly appealing for a player whose skill set allows him to influence the game beyond simply scoring.

UConn's interest also appears to be significant enough that several Huskies players were in attendance when Jordan competed at the Elite 20 Invitational in Connecticut. The presence of UConn players such as Silas Demary Jr., Solo Ball and others added another layer to the Huskies' pursuit of the five-star prospect.

Tennessee Offers a Unique Connection

Tennessee is another particularly intriguing option in Jordan's recruitment.

Jordan has roots in Tennessee, making the Volunteers one of the programs with a natural geographic and personal connection to the highly ranked wing. Tennessee is also one of the programs that has remained in his final group after the July cut.

His September 25-27 official visit will give the Volunteers an important opportunity to strengthen that relationship and demonstrate how Jordan could fit into their program.

With the visit coming immediately after Vanderbilt's trip, Jordan will spend consecutive weekends evaluating SEC programs before heading north to UConn.

Kansas, USC and Vanderbilt Get Their Opportunities

The first stop on Jordan's fall schedule will be USC, which hosts him September 4-6.

The Trojans will have the opportunity to get the recruiting process started before Jordan heads to Kansas the following weekend. The Jayhawks' official visit is scheduled for September 11-13, followed by Vanderbilt from September 18-20.

Kansas is especially intriguing because the Jayhawks are continuing to build their 2027 recruiting class, and landing a player of Jordan's caliber would provide Bill Self with a significant centerpiece.

Vanderbilt, meanwhile, has positioned itself among the national programs battling for Jordan and will have its own opportunity to make an impression when the five-star wing arrives in Nashville.

The Recruitment Is Wide Open

While Jordan's list has been trimmed considerably, there is little indication that a clear favorite has emerged.

That makes the next month especially important.

Five consecutive official visits will allow Jordan to experience each program firsthand, spend extended time with the coaching staffs and players, and evaluate everything from development plans to playing style and campus culture.

The UConn visit could be particularly significant because it comes last on his current schedule. By October 6, Jordan will have had the opportunity to compare five different programs and determine which one best matches what he is looking for.

Jordan has reduced a lengthy offer sheet to eight schools and now has five official visits scheduled. USC, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and UConn will each have a chance to make a final push, while Alabama, Ohio State and Washington remain part of the broader recruitment.
