2027 4-Star Zion Green Locks In Four Official Visits

One of the top forwards in the 2027 class is entering a pivotal stretch of his recruitment.

Four-star power forward Zion Green, a 6-foot-9, 190-pound standout at AZ Compass Prep, has scheduled four official visits this fall, giving four high-major programs an opportunity to make their strongest pitches as Green works toward a decision.

Green's official visit schedule is set to include:

• Oklahoma: Sept. 3-5

• Alabama: Sept. 11-13

• Ole Miss: Sept. 18-20

• Kansas: Sept. 25-27

A Versatile Frontcourt Prospect

Green has established himself as one of the more intriguing forwards in the class because of his combination of size, skill and versatility.

At 6-foot-9, Green has the ability to play around the basket while also possessing the perimeter skill to stretch defenses. During the summer, he showcased that shooting ability on the Pro16 circuit, where he reportedly shot 40.5% from three while averaging 17.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. 

His game isn't limited to scoring, either. Green has previously described himself as a player who can score, facilitate and continue impacting the game when his shot isn't falling. He has specifically pointed to his passing, reads, pull-up game and ability to operate out of pick-and-roll situations as areas of his development.

That versatility is a major reason why so many high-level programs have prioritized him.

Oklahoma Gets First Opportunity

The first stop on Green's official visit tour is Oklahoma.

The Sooners have been involved with Green for some time and are now getting an extended opportunity to showcase their program. With Green's combination of size and perimeter ability, he fits the profile of the modern frontcourt player that major programs are looking to add.

His visit to Norman will be particularly important because it gives Oklahoma the chance to establish an early advantage before Green moves on to the other three programs.

Alabama's Pitch

Alabama has also emerged as an important player in Green's recruitment.

Head coach Nate Oats has built a reputation around an up-tempo style that places a premium on shooting, spacing and versatility. That could make the Crimson Tide an intriguing fit for a forward like Green who has demonstrated legitimate three-point range.

Green has previously spoken positively about Alabama, pointing to the program's history and describing the message from the Crimson Tide as essentially being about playing hard and continuing to work. 

Alabama's interest is significant enough that Green is part of an increasingly impressive 2027 recruiting board for the program. Recent reporting has identified him as one of the top prospects scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa this fall. 

Ole Miss Making a Strong Push

Ole Miss has also worked its way into the mix.

Green previously identified the Rebels as one of the programs recruiting him heavily, and the relationship has continued to develop heading into his senior season.

The Rebels' interest makes sense from a personnel standpoint. Green's ability to operate as a skilled, athletic forward gives Ole Miss another potential matchup problem in the frontcourt, while his perimeter shooting adds another dimension to his game.

For Ole Miss, the official visit represents an opportunity to turn a strong recruiting relationship into something more substantial.

Kansas Rounds Out the Visits

The final stop will be Lawrence, where Bill Self and Kansas will get their opportunity with one of the nation's premier 2027 forwards.

Kansas offered Green in May, and the Jayhawks have continued to make him a priority. Recent reporting has him among the top prospects scheduled to visit Kansas during the current recruiting cycle.

Kansas' track record of developing frontcourt players and competing for championships will naturally be a major part of its pitch. For Green, the visit will provide a chance to see how his skill set could translate into Self's system and what his potential role could look like at the next level.

Recruitment Wide Open

While Green has four official visits locked in, there is no clear indication that his recruitment is nearing its conclusion.

His overall recruitment remains extremely competitive. Along with Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss and Kansas, Green has received interest and/or offers from programs such as Michigan, Villanova, Providence, Syracuse, Auburn, Maryland, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Seton Hall, Penn State, Washington, Wake Forest and UTEP, among others.

That extensive list demonstrates just how highly Green is regarded nationally.

The biggest question surrounding Green isn't whether he has the talent to play at the highest level, it's determining which program provides the best combination of development, fit and opportunity. At 6-foot-9 and roughly 190 pounds, adding strength will be an important part of his continued development, but his shooting, length, versatility and feel give him a foundation to become a matchup nightmare at the college level.

The Next Chapter

With four official visits now scheduled, Green's recruitment is entering one of its most important stages.

Oklahoma gets the first opportunity. Alabama, Ole Miss and Kansas will follow, giving Green four very different programs to evaluate before deciding where he wants to continue his basketball career.

For now, the race appears wide open.

Four visits. Four major programs. One of the 2027 class's most versatile forwards.

The next few weeks could go a long way toward determining where Zion Green ultimately lands.
