2027 5-Star Adan Diggs Cuts Recruitment to Top 7
One of the top guards in the 2027 recruiting class has officially narrowed his recruitment.
Five-star guard Adan Diggs has trimmed his list to seven programs: Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, USC, Duke, Kansas and Arkansas, giving him a loaded group of national contenders as he heads into his senior season at Millennium High School in Arizona.
Diggs' recruitment has quickly become one of the most intriguing in the class after he originally entered high school basketball as a member of the 2028 class before announcing his reclassification to 2027 in May. Despite moving up a class, Diggs has maintained his status as one of the nation's elite prospects.
A Five-Star Guard With Versatility
Standing around 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, Diggs has developed a reputation as a dynamic combo guard capable of impacting games on both ends of the floor. He brings size to the backcourt, a strong physical profile and the ability to contribute as a scorer, playmaker, rebounder and defender.
His production on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer helped reinforce his status among the country's best. Playing with Vegas Elite, Diggs averaged 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
His defensive versatility is particularly intriguing. Diggs has the physical tools to defend multiple positions while also using his athleticism and length to make an impact around the basket and on the glass.
Offensively, Diggs has shown the ability to create his own shot while playing with pace. He has previously pointed to Devin Booker and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as players he studies, particularly because of their ability to manipulate pace, get to their spots and operate in the mid-range.
Arizona Has a Major Advantage
Of the seven schools remaining, Arizona appears to have an obvious advantage because of Diggs' proximity to the program and his familiarity with the Wildcats.
Diggs is an Arizona native and plays his high school basketball at Millennium. Arizona has been heavily involved in his recruitment, offering him in June 2025. The Wildcats are also the first school to have an official visit scheduled with Diggs, as he is expected in Tucson on September 25.
There is also a strong relationship between Diggs and Arizona's program through his high school and recruiting connections. Millennium teammate Cameron Holmes is headed to Arizona and has reportedly been actively recruiting Diggs to join him in Tucson. Diggs has also discussed having a strong relationship with the Arizona staff.
That combination of proximity, familiarity and relationships makes Arizona an important program to watch as the recruitment progresses.
Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina Bring the Blue-Blood Factor
The Wildcats aren't the only powerhouse with a legitimate opportunity.
Kentucky offered Diggs in May and has continued to make him a priority. The Wildcats were also in contact with him during the opening portion of the fall recruiting period, showing that their pursuit remains strong.
Duke has also emerged as a major contender. Jon Scheyer and his staff have made Diggs a priority in their pursuit of elite 2027 talent. Duke's ability to develop high-level guards and put them on the biggest stage gives the Blue Devils a compelling case.
Then there's North Carolina, another program with the national profile and tradition to make this recruitment extremely interesting. Having both Duke and North Carolina in Diggs' final seven adds another layer to an already competitive recruitment.
Kansas and Arkansas Remain in the Fight
Kansas has also positioned itself among Diggs' finalists. Bill Self and the Jayhawks remain in the mix for one of the highest-rated guards in the country, and a future visit could be important as Kansas looks to strengthen its position.
Arkansas rounds out the seven and gives Diggs another program with a strong track record of developing talented perimeter players. The Razorbacks' presence among the finalists demonstrates just how competitive this recruitment has become.
USC Remains a Familiar Option
USC is another school with established familiarity in Diggs' recruitment. Diggs took an unofficial visit to USC in November 2025, giving the Trojans an opportunity to build on an existing relationship rather than starting from scratch. He also visited UCLA during that same period, although the Bruins ultimately did not make the cut.
USC's ability to recruit nationally and provide opportunities for talented guards keeps the Trojans firmly in the conversation.
What's Next?
The biggest storyline moving forward will be official visits.
Arizona currently has the only official visit on Diggs' schedule, with the September 25 trip to Tucson locked in. However, Diggs plans to visit all seven finalists before ultimately making his decision.
That means there is still plenty of time for the other six programs to make their case.
For now, Arizona appears to have a strong position because of Diggs' local ties and existing relationships, but this recruitment is far from finished. Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Arkansas and USC all have legitimate opportunities to make up ground once the visits begin.
With a five-star talent, a national list of blue-blood programs and multiple visits still ahead, Adan Diggs' recruitment is shaping up to be one of the biggest storylines in the 2027 class.
