Top-75 Prospect JoJo Nance Continues Recruiting Rise With Virginia Tech, Northwestern Offers

The recruitment of 2027 guard Josiah “JoJo” Nance continues to gain momentum.

The 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard out of Notre Dame High School (CA) recently added offers from Virginia Tech and Northwestern, two high-major programs that have joined an already growing list of schools tracking one of the West Coast's premier backcourt prospects. Virginia Tech entered the picture in late spring, while Northwestern extended an offer shortly afterward as Nance's stock continues to climb nationally.

What makes Nance such an intriguing prospect is his combination of size, scoring ability, and versatility. At 6-foot-4 with long arms and solid athleticism, he has the physical tools to play either guard spot. He is capable of initiating offense, creating for teammates, and generating his own shot at all three levels.

Nance's offensive game is advanced for his age. He changes speeds well, uses a tight handle to create separation, and consistently gets into the paint. Once there, he shows touch around the basket and the ability to finish through contact. His ability to score from multiple areas on the floor makes him difficult to defend. Evaluators have also praised his pull-up game, catch-and-shoot ability, and overall shot-making package.

The perimeter shooting continues to trend upward as well. During recent camp and showcase settings, Nance demonstrated efficiency from beyond the arc and was recognized as one of the standout guards in attendance. At the Pangos All-American Camp, he earned Top 30 Game honors while shooting an impressive percentage from three-point range throughout the event.

Defensively, Nance has the tools college coaches covet. His size, length, and mobility allow him to guard multiple positions. He competes on that end of the floor, generates deflections, and has the physical profile to become a high-level two-way player as he continues to mature.

From a recruiting standpoint, the recent offers from Virginia Tech and Northwestern reflect how his recruitment is beginning to expand nationally. Northwestern has made a habit of targeting skilled, versatile guards who can thrive in its system, while Virginia Tech has prioritized athletic perimeter talent capable of impacting both ends of the floor. Nance checks many of those boxes.

With two years of high school basketball still ahead of him, Nance's recruitment appears far from slowing down. His combination of size, shot creation, scoring versatility, and defensive upside gives him one of the higher ceilings among guards in the 2027 class. As more college staffs evaluate him throughout the summer and upcoming live periods, additional Power Five programs are likely to enter the mix.

For now, Virginia Tech and Northwestern are the latest programs to make their move, but they likely won't be the last for one of the nation's fastest-rising young guards.
