Beckham Black's Recruitment Continues to Explode as Duke, Kansas, and Arizona Enter the Race

The recruitment of 2027 five-star point guard Beckham Black continues to gain momentum as three more college basketball powers have officially entered the picture.

Duke, Kansas, and Arizona have all extended scholarship offers to Black in recent weeks, adding to what has quickly become one of the most impressive offer sheets in the entire 2027 class. The 6-foot-3 floor general out of Southeastern Prep in Orlando, Florida, is widely viewed as one of the premier prospects in high school basketball and currently sits among the top-ranked players nationally. Black is rated as the No. 1 point guard and a top-five overall prospect in the class.

The recent offers from Duke and Kansas came in mid-May following standout performances on the Nike EYBL circuit, where Black continued to showcase why many evaluators believe he has NBA-level upside. Arizona has also joined the growing list of programs pursuing the elite playmaker, further intensifying what is shaping up to be a national recruiting battle.

A Recruitment Filled with Blue Bloods

Black's offer list already reads like a who's who of college basketball.

Programs such as Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, North Carolina, USC, Georgetown, Duke, Kansas, and Arizona are among the schools involved early in his recruitment. With more than 20 Division I offers already on the table and still over a year away from beginning his official visit process, Black remains one of the most heavily pursued prospects in the country.

Family ties could play a role as his recruitment develops. Beckham is the younger brother of former five-star recruit and current Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black, who starred at Arkansas before becoming a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. That connection naturally keeps the Razorbacks firmly in the conversation, but sources around his recruitment indicate that Black is attracting serious interest from nearly every major program in the country.

Duke's pursuit has been particularly aggressive. Head coach Jon Scheyer evaluated Black during EYBL action in Memphis, where the talented guard reportedly delivered a 27-point performance that helped solidify the Blue Devils' decision to offer.

Breaking Down Beckham Black's Game

Black is the modern lead guard every college coach is searching for.

He combines size, pace, feel, and scoring ability at an advanced level for a player entering his junior year of high school. Standing 6-foot-3 with good positional length, Black has the physical tools to impact the game on both ends of the floor while possessing the natural instincts of a primary ball-handler.

What separates him from many young guards is his ability to control a game without forcing the action. Black plays with excellent pace, consistently makes the right read in ball-screen situations, and has shown the ability to create offense for both himself and his teammates.

As a scorer, he can attack downhill, finish through contact, and punish defenders who go under screens. His confidence as a perimeter shooter continues to improve, making him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. On the defensive end, his size and competitiveness allow him to guard multiple backcourt positions.

What's Next?

With Duke, Kansas, and Arizona now officially in the mix, Black's recruitment appears to be entering another level.

The combination of elite production, high-level feel, positional size, and pedigree has made him one of the most coveted players in the country. As college coaches continue to evaluate the 2027 class throughout the summer and fall, don't expect the offers to slow down anytime soon.

For now, Beckham Black remains one of the biggest names in grassroots basketball, and one of the most important recruiting battles to watch in the entire 2027 cycle.
