2028 Five-Star Bamba Touray Quickly Becoming One of the Hottest Names in College Basketball Recruiting
When the June 15 contact period opened for the Class of 2028, it didn't take long for one of the nation's premier prospects to see his recruitment explode.
Five-star center Bamba Touray has been one of the biggest winners of the early recruiting window, adding offers from Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Saint Louis, UNLV and Indiana, while several other high-major programs, including Kentucky, Miami, Georgia Tech and Utah, have also begun prioritizing the elite big man. Touray's recruitment has quickly become one of the most closely watched storylines in the 2028 class.
The 7-foot center recently announced he will transfer from IMG Academy to Prolific Prep in Florida for his junior season, giving him another opportunity to compete against elite national competition while continuing his development.
Why Programs Are Chasing Touray
It's easy to understand why college coaches have made Touray an early priority.
Standing 7-foot with exceptional mobility, Touray possesses the type of physical tools that are becoming increasingly valuable in today's game. He runs the floor effortlessly, changes ends with impressive speed, and already shows the ability to protect the rim at a high level.
Defensively, his combination of length, timing and foot speed allows him to impact possessions both around the basket and on the perimeter. Unlike many players his size, Touray is comfortable moving laterally, making him capable of switching ball screens while still serving as an elite rim protector.
On the offensive end, his upside may be even more intriguing.
While he continues to add strength to his frame, Touray has flashed legitimate perimeter skill. He is comfortable facing the basket, can attack off one or two dribbles, finishes above the rim with ease, and has shown encouraging shooting touch that projects well as he continues to develop. His ability to eventually stretch the floor while anchoring a defense gives him one of the highest ceilings in the country.
Recruitment Heating Up
Since college coaches were officially allowed to initiate direct contact with the 2028 class, Touray's offer list has grown rapidly.
His recent offers include:
Florida State
Georgia
Ole Miss
Saint Louis
UNLV
Beyond those scholarship offers, additional high-major programs such as Kentucky, Miami, Georgia Tech and Utah have already entered the picture and are expected to remain heavily involved as his recruitment continues.
With nearly three full years remaining before college decisions become a reality, Touray is still in the early stages of his recruiting process. However, the national attention speaks volumes about how highly coaches value his combination of size, athleticism and long-term upside.
Ranked among the very best prospects in the country regardless of position, Touray has firmly established himself as one of the premier players in the Class of 2028. As his game continues to mature and his body develops, expect even more blue-blood programs to enter what is shaping up to be one of the nation's most competitive recruitments.
