2027 Four-Star King Rachal Schedules Four Official Visits
One of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2027 class is beginning to take a closer look at his college options.
Four-star wing King Rachal has scheduled four official visits for the coming weeks, with trips planned to USC, San Diego State, Oregon and Utah State.
Rachal’s official visit schedule:
USC: August 20-22
San Diego State: August 28-30
Oregon: September 4-6
Utah State: September 24-27
The 6-foot-7 wing has become a priority target for programs across the country after seeing his recruitment take off over the past year. Rachal was largely outside the national conversation a year ago before putting together a breakout stretch that pushed him firmly into four-star territory.
Along with the four programs receiving official visits, Rachal has collected offers from schools including UCLA, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Washington, SMU, Virginia Tech, Grand Canyon, New Mexico and Oregon State, among others. He is also working toward setting up an additional visit with a Big 12 program.
Rachal's summer helped establish him as much more than simply a prospect with upside. He earned First Team All-PRO16 honors and also competed at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and Jayson Tatum Elite Camp.
Breaking Down the Four Visits
USC gets the first opportunity to host Rachal, and the Trojans make plenty of sense as a serious player in this recruitment. Rachal is a Southern California prospect, giving USC a significant geographical advantage and an opportunity to keep one of the region's fastest-rising players close to home. The August 20-22 trip should give him a chance to get a more complete look at the program and how its staff envisions using his versatility on the wing.
From there, Rachal will head south for his San Diego State visit from August 28-30. The Aztecs have been heavily involved in his recruitment, and Rachal fits the type of two-way identity that has traditionally made San Diego State successful. His combination of length, athleticism and defensive upside gives the Aztecs plenty to work with, while his improving offensive skill set could allow him to fill several roles.
Rachal will then make his way to Oregon from September 4-6. The Ducks are a more recent addition to his recruitment, offering him this summer, but quickly securing an official visit is significant. Oregon has consistently recruited length and versatility across the perimeter, two qualities that immediately stand out with Rachal.
His currently scheduled stretch concludes at Utah State from September 24-27. The Aggies have remained involved throughout his rise and now get one of the longer visits on his schedule. Utah State's ability to make Rachal a priority and lay out a clear plan for his development could make the Aggies an intriguing factor as his recruitment progresses.
There is still plenty of time before a decision needs to be made, and with Rachal continuing to work on another visit, this recruitment does not appear close to finished. However, USC, San Diego State, Oregon and Utah State will now have the opportunity to make their pitches in person during an important stretch of his recruitment.
Breaking Down Rachal's Game
Rachal's long-term upside starts with his physical profile.
At approximately 6-foot-7 and 180 pounds, he brings legitimate positional size to the perimeter while remaining a fluid and explosive athlete. He covers ground well, gets off the floor quickly and has the physical tools to eventually defend several positions.
Offensively, Rachal's shooting is one of the more intriguing parts of his game. He has shown the ability to stretch the floor from beyond the arc, but he isn't limited to being a catch-and-shoot threat. When defenders run him off the line, he can attack closeouts, use his long strides to get downhill and finish plays around the basket.
That combination gives him considerable value away from the ball. He doesn't need to dominate possessions to impact an offense. Rachal moves well without the basketball, can space the floor and is willing to make the extra pass. His athleticism also makes him dangerous in transition, where he can run the floor and play above the rim.
There remains another level for him to reach as a creator. Developing a tighter handle and becoming more comfortable generating offense against a set defense would give Rachal another dimension. Adding strength will also be important. His frame is still lean, and filling it out should help him absorb contact offensively while giving him more versatility against stronger players defensively.
The defensive end may ultimately be where Rachal's physical tools give him his highest floor.
His combination of size, length, mobility and athleticism provides the foundation to become a versatile perimeter defender. He's shown increased activity on that end and has the tools to switch across multiple positions as his body develops. For college programs searching for wings who can stay on the floor in different lineups and impact the game without requiring high usage, Rachal checks a lot of boxes.
He's also younger than many players in his class, which adds another layer to his projection. Rachal won't turn 18 until June of his senior year, giving college staffs reason to believe there is significant physical and skill development still ahead.
That upside is a major reason his recruitment has accelerated so quickly.
Rachal has gone from an under-the-radar prospect to a nationally regarded four-star with high-major programs across the country pursuing him. Now, with four official visits on the calendar, his recruitment is entering its next stage.
USC gets the first opportunity on August 20. San Diego State, Oregon and Utah State will follow.
For a prospect whose stock has climbed considerably over the past year, the next several weeks could go a long way toward determining which programs ultimately separate themselves in the recruitment of one of the West Coast's top 2027 wings.
