2027 Four-Star Brandon Woodard Locks In Four Official Visits

One of the top forwards in the 2027 class is beginning to take the next major step in his recruitment.

Four-star Bishop McNamara (MD) forward Brandon Woodard has scheduled four official visits for the fall, with trips planned to Mississippi State, Georgetown, Rutgers and Providence. The 6-foot-8 forward will begin the stretch at Mississippi State on September 4-5, followed by Georgetown on September 11-12 and Rutgers on September 18-19. Woodard will then head to Providence beginning October 16.

The visits give Woodard an opportunity to take a closer look at four programs that have made him a priority as his recruitment begins to move toward its next stage.

At 6-foot-8, Woodard brings athleticism, length and versatility to the frontcourt. He can make an impact around the basket as a rebounder and finisher while possessing the mobility to run the floor and defend. His athletic ability is one of the most noticeable parts of his game, but his development into a more complete forward has helped attract a lengthy list of high-major programs.

Now, four of those programs will get an opportunity to host him on campus.

Mississippi State — September 4-5

Woodard's first scheduled official visit will take him to Starkville for a look at Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs have been involved heavily enough to remain in Woodard's recruitment as it has progressed. Earlier this summer, Woodard identified Mississippi State as one of the primary programs recruiting him alongside Rutgers, Oklahoma State and Providence.

Mississippi State gives Woodard an SEC option and an opportunity to evaluate how the Bulldogs envision using him at the next level. For a versatile forward like Woodard, his fit within a program's system and its plan for his development should be an important part of each visit.

The Bulldogs will get the first opportunity to make an impression during his official-visit stretch.

Georgetown — September 11-12

One week later, Woodard will return his attention to the DMV with an official visit to Georgetown.

Georgetown has familiarity working in its favor. Woodard has already been on campus for an unofficial visit, giving him previous experience with the program before he returns in September.

The Hoyas also offer Woodard the opportunity to remain close to home while playing high-major basketball in the Big East. For Georgetown, keeping a talented Bishop McNamara prospect in the DMV would represent an important recruiting win.

Woodard's return to campus for an official visit makes Georgetown a program worth watching closely as his recruitment develops.

Rutgers — September 18-19

Rutgers has been one of the most consistent programs involved with Woodard and will host him immediately after his Georgetown trip.

The Scarlet Knights offered Woodard in 2025, and he has already taken an unofficial visit to Piscataway. Their pitch has included the program's recent track record of developing high-level NBA talent, particularly Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey.

Woodard previously told Rivals that Rutgers likes his overall game and athleticism and has emphasized giving him the resources he needs to reach the next level.

That message appears to have resonated.

Rutgers remained among the programs Woodard specifically identified as standing out earlier this summer, and the Scarlet Knights have continued to make him a priority. With an established relationship already in place, his September official visit will give both sides another opportunity to build on that foundation.

Providence — October

Woodard's fourth scheduled trip will take him to Providence, beginning October 16.

The Friars have gained significant ground in his recruitment. Providence was included among the programs Woodard identified as being heavily involved earlier this summer, and now the Friars will have an opportunity to get him on campus for an official visit.

Providence also provides another Big East option for Woodard, creating an interesting dynamic with Georgetown also receiving a visit.

By the time Woodard arrives in Providence, he will have already completed three official visits in three consecutive weeks. That could make the Friars' later date particularly important, as Woodard will have several other campus experiences to compare it against.

Where Woodard's Recruitment Stands

Woodard's recruitment has evolved over the last several months.

Earlier in July, he identified Rutgers, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Providence as the main programs involved. At that point, he had not finalized his complete official-visit schedule and was preparing to move further into the process following the summer evaluation period.

The picture has since become clearer.

Mississippi State, Georgetown, Rutgers and Providence have secured visits, while Oklahoma State remains another notable program that has recruited Woodard. His overall offer list also includes programs such as Maryland, Miami, Florida State, Memphis, Villanova and Virginia Tech.

That makes the four scheduled visits significant, but they should not necessarily be interpreted as a final four unless Woodard publicly establishes them as such.

The September stretch should reveal much more.

Mississippi State will get the first opportunity to host him. Georgetown can sell familiarity, proximity to home and the Big East. Rutgers has built one of the longer-standing relationships in his recruitment and can point toward recent NBA lottery picks as part of its developmental pitch. Providence will then have a chance to make its case later in the fall.

Woodard has previously said that finding a coaching staff that genuinely wants him is important in his recruitment. He has also discussed wanting a system that allows players freedom to play their game.

Those priorities should become particularly important during the official-visit process. Each staff now gets the opportunity to show Woodard exactly where he fits, not only as a recruit, but as a potential piece of its future.

With four official visits on the calendar, one of the DMV's top 2027 prospects is entering an important stretch in his recruitment.
