2027 Five-Star NaVorro Bowman Jr. Locks In Four September Official Visits

One of the fastest-rising guards in the 2027 class is preparing for a busy September.

Five-star guard NaVorro Bowman Jr. has scheduled four official visits for the beginning of his senior year, with trips set to UConn on September 4, Illinois on September 10, Texas on September 19 and Arizona on September 25. The four dates have been confirmed across multiple recruiting outlets, including 247Sports and Rivals.

Bowman's recruitment is extensive, He currently has 26 scholarship offers, but his September schedule gives a strong indication of which programs have positioned themselves near the front of the race. UConn, Illinois, Texas and Arizona will each have an opportunity to get Bowman on campus within a three-week stretch. North Carolina is also expected to receive a visit, although a date has not yet been scheduled.

Why Bowman Has Become a Five-Star Priority

Bowman's rise has been fueled by his development into a legitimate two-way guard.

Playing for Team WhyNot on the Nike EYBL circuit, Bowman averaged 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game during the EYBL season. His combination of strength, explosiveness, shot creation and defensive ability has helped push him toward the top of the national rankings.

His summer also included a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup. Bowman averaged 11.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds across seven games for the United States, including a 19-point, six-assist, five-rebound performance in the quarterfinals against Puerto Rico.

Then came another statement at Peach Jam.

Bowman scored 33 points with seven made 3-pointers, five assists, four rebounds and two steals against Team CP3. He scored 10 points in the final 30 seconds, knocking down three consecutive difficult 3-pointers from well beyond the high school line. It was another example of the shot-making ability that has helped transform his national reputation.

Bowman has always had the physical tools. Now his offensive skill set is beginning to match them.

He can create off the bounce, change speeds, attack through contact and make pull-up jumpers from deep. His physicality also translates defensively, where he has the lateral quickness and strength to pressure opposing guards. His combination of scoring and defense gives him the versatility to play either guard spot at the next level.

UConn — September 4

Bowman's first official visit will take him across the country to UConn.

The Huskies getting the first visit on the schedule is significant. Bowman lives in Southern California, and Storrs will be the longest trip of the four he currently has scheduled. His willingness to travel that far reinforces that location doesn't appear to be a major obstacle in his recruitment.

For UConn, the pitch should center around development, winning and putting guards in demanding roles on a national stage.

Bowman's competitive personality makes the fit particularly interesting. He isn't simply a finesse scorer. He plays with physicality, defends and has become increasingly comfortable creating for others. Those qualities give UConn plenty to work with as the Huskies attempt to make a major impression during the first weekend of September.

Being first also gives UConn an opportunity to establish the standard that Bowman will use to evaluate the three visits that follow.

Illinois — September 10

Less than a week later, Bowman will head to Champaign for an official visit with Illinois.

Brad Underwood and his staff getting Bowman on campus represents another major recruiting opportunity for a program that has become increasingly aggressive with elite high school talent. Bowman was previously reported as the No. 10 player nationally when news of the Illinois visit first surfaced.

The basketball fit is easy to understand.

Illinois has shown a willingness to give talented perimeter players significant offensive responsibility. Bowman could potentially operate as both a primary scorer and secondary playmaker while bringing the physicality necessary to compete in the Big Ten.

His ability to play on or off the ball could be particularly attractive. Bowman isn't a traditional pass-first point guard, but his playmaking continues to improve. Put him next to another capable creator and his ability to attack gaps, make shots off the dribble and defend multiple perimeter positions becomes even more valuable.

Illinois will have a legitimate opportunity to show Bowman how those skills could translate within Underwood's system.

Texas — September 19

Bowman will then travel to Texas for his third official visit.

The Longhorns provide another different option in his recruitment. Texas can sell the opportunity to play in the SEC, compete against high-level talent on a nightly basis and develop in an environment with major resources and national exposure.

For Bowman, evaluating how Texas plans to use him should be an important part of the trip.

He has developed into much more than an athlete playing guard. His shot creation has become a major weapon, and he's capable of putting together explosive scoring stretches when he finds a rhythm. Finding a program willing to maximize that ability while continuing to develop his decision-making could play an important role in his eventual choice.

Texas will get its opportunity to make that case on September 19.

Arizona — September 25

Bowman's currently scheduled official-visit tour concludes with Arizona.

Of the four schools, Arizona is considerably closer to his Southern California home, but the Wildcats have more than geography working in their favor.

Arizona's style and history of guard development provide an intriguing basketball fit for a player with Bowman's combination of pace, power and scoring ability. Earlier reporting on his recruitment indicated that Bowman has taken notice of Arizona's recent guard play.

The Wildcats also get the final scheduled visit, giving their staff an opportunity to make the last in-person impression of this four-school stretch.

By that point, Bowman will have seen four distinctly different programs in four different parts of the country. Arizona will know exactly what it is competing against.

North Carolina Remains in the Picture

The four scheduled visits shouldn't necessarily be viewed as a final four.

North Carolina is expected to receive a visit as well, according to recent reporting, although nothing has been placed on the calendar yet. The Tar Heels offered Bowman on July 23 and have continued making a push in his recruitment.

That development is important because Bowman's recruitment remains open. The September visits provide clarity on four serious contenders, but they don't necessarily signal that he's close to shutting things down.

With more than two dozen offers and several national programs involved, there is still room for the recruitment to evolve.

Breaking Down the Recruitment

Bowman's four scheduled visits provide four very different options.

UConn can sell its culture, player development and national expectations. Illinois can pitch an opportunity for a major perimeter role in Underwood's system. Texas brings SEC competition, resources and a high-profile platform. Arizona combines a strong basketball fit with proximity to Bowman's California home.

What has become increasingly clear is why these programs are making Bowman such a priority.

He's no longer simply an athletic guard with intriguing upside. Bowman has developed into one of the most complete two-way perimeter prospects in the 2027 class. His physical tools give him a high floor defensively, while his improving handle, pull-up shooting and playmaking have significantly raised his offensive ceiling.

There are still areas for growth. Bowman can continue becoming more efficient as a shooter and decision-maker, particularly when balancing his scoring instincts with creating for teammates. But those are developmental points rather than major limitations, and his trajectory over the past year suggests there is still another level to reach.

Bowman also carries one of the more recognizable names in the class. His father, NaVorro Bowman, was a four-time First-Team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl linebacker with the San Francisco 49ers after playing college football at Penn State. The younger Bowman chose a different sport, but the physicality and competitiveness associated with his father are easy to see in his game.

Now, Bowman's recruitment is entering its most important stage yet.

Four official visits. Four national programs. Twenty-one days separating the first trip from the last.

Beginning September 4 in Storrs and finishing September 25 in Tucson, one of the top guards in the 2027 class will get his first extended look at four programs hoping they can convince him to become a centerpiece of their future backcourt.

And with North Carolina and potentially others still involved, Bowman's recruitment could be one of the most closely watched battles in the 2027 class heading into the fall.
