2027 Four-Star Dylan Jones Cuts Recruitment to Six Schools

One of the top wings in the 2027 class is officially narrowing his focus.

Four-star Dylan Jones, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Bartlett High School in Tennessee, has cut his recruitment down to six programs: Providence, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Memphis.

The recruitment now enters an important stretch. Jones has official visits scheduled with Memphis on Sept. 4-5, Texas A&M on Sept. 11-12, Ole Miss on Sept. 18-20, Providence on Sept. 25 and Tennessee beginning Oct. 2. Alabama is the lone finalist without a reported official visit date at this point. Jones has previously taken unofficial visits to Alabama, Tennessee and Ole Miss.

Providence

Providence represents one of the more intriguing schools in Jones' final group.

The Friars have made the Tennessee product a priority as they work to add size and versatility on the wing in the 2027 class. Jones has already scheduled an official visit to Providence for Sept. 25, giving the staff an opportunity to make its case late in his September visit swing.

Providence doesn't have the geographic advantage of several other finalists, but getting Jones on campus for an official visit is significant. His physical profile and ability to impact both ends of the floor make him the type of versatile wing who could fill multiple roles at the college level.

Alabama

Alabama has been involved with Jones for some time and remains standing as his recruitment reaches its final stages.

Jones has already made an unofficial trip to Tuscaloosa, giving him familiarity with the program before cutting his list.

The Crimson Tide offer Jones an SEC destination with a recent track record of developing high-level perimeter talent. While Alabama is currently the only member of his top six without a reported official visit scheduled, its inclusion in the final group after Jones has already been on campus shows the Crimson Tide remain a legitimate factor.

Tennessee

The in-state Volunteers have an obvious connection to Jones and have positioned themselves for an important opportunity late in the process.

Jones is regarded as the top-ranked prospect in Tennessee in the 2027 class and is scheduled to officially visit Knoxville beginning Oct. 2.

Rick Barnes and his staff have been recruiting Jones as one of the state's premier prospects, and he has already visited Tennessee unofficially. The October official visit will give the Vols another chance to sell Jones on staying home and playing in the SEC.

For Tennessee, keeping one of the state's best players home would be a major recruiting victory.

Ole Miss

Few programs have built as much early momentum with Jones as Ole Miss.

Jones has already made multiple trips to Oxford, and his relationship with the Rebels' coaching staff has been one of the consistent storylines throughout his recruitment. He is scheduled to return for an official visit from Sept. 18-20.

The relationship piece appears particularly important here. Jones has publicly pointed to his connection with the Ole Miss coaches and the program's culture as reasons the Rebels have remained firmly involved.

Chris Beard's staff has been recruiting him for an extended period, and the Rebels have had multiple opportunities to get Jones on campus. Among the six finalists, Ole Miss has built one of the more established foundations heading into the fall.

Texas A&M

Texas A&M has also done enough to earn an official visit.

Jones will travel to College Station on Sept. 11-12, one week after his scheduled Memphis trip.

The Aggies give Jones another SEC option and an opportunity to play in a physical high-major environment that fits several of his strengths. His combination of size, toughness and defensive versatility could translate particularly well to SEC basketball.

The September visit will be important for Texas A&M because Jones has already developed greater in-person familiarity with programs such as Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee.

Memphis

There might not be another finalist with a stronger geographic connection than Memphis.

Jones plays his high school basketball at Bartlett, located in the Memphis area, and competes on the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Thad, one of the region's premier grassroots programs. Memphis has been involved in his recruitment and will get the first official visit of his current fall schedule on Sept. 4-5.

The Tigers can offer Jones the opportunity to stay close to home while becoming a centerpiece of their future roster.

That local connection shouldn't be overlooked. Memphis has been able to recruit its area aggressively, and Jones would represent a significant hometown addition for the Tigers' 2027 class.

Why Jones Has Become a National Priority

Jones' recruitment has continued to expand alongside his development.

He helped Bartlett capture the Tennessee Class 4A state championship, with the program finishing 35-4, before carrying that momentum onto the EYBL circuit with Team Thad. During Peach Jam, Jones averaged 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game, helping Team Thad finish pool play at 3-2.

He also boosted his stock at the Pangos All-American Camp, where he earned MVP honors after another strong showing.

At 6-foot-6 with a strong frame and length, Jones has the tools to defend multiple positions while bringing physicality to the perimeter. Offensively, he has shown the ability to attack off the bounce, create in the mid-range and continue extending his game to the perimeter. His combination of strength and skill gives coaches flexibility in how he could eventually be used.

Perhaps most importantly, his game continues to trend upward.

Jones has shown he can produce against high-level competition while impacting games beyond simply scoring. His rebounding, defensive versatility, toughness and willingness to make effort plays have helped turn him into one of the more complete wing prospects in the 2027 class.

What's Next?

Jones' recruitment should become much clearer over the next two months.

Five of his six finalists are scheduled to host him for official visits between early September and early October. That gives Memphis, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Providence and Tennessee opportunities to make their final pitches in relatively quick succession, while Alabama remains involved after previously hosting him unofficially.

There are different selling points throughout the group. Memphis and Tennessee can emphasize keeping one of the state's best prospects close to home. Ole Miss has built substantial familiarity and relationships. Alabama and Texas A&M provide additional SEC options, while Providence gives Jones a different opportunity in the Big East.

What is clear is that Jones has moved beyond the early stages of his recruitment.

The list is down to six, the visits are being finalized, and one of the top wings in the 2027 class is moving closer toward a college decision.
