2027 Five-Star DeMarcus Henry Explodes at EYBL Session II, Earns Offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, UNC
2027 five-star wing DeMarcus Henry has quickly gone from one of the most intriguing long-term prospects in the country to one of the hottest names on the recruiting trail after a breakout showing at Nike EYBL Session II in Memphis.
The 6-foot-7 standout from AZ Compass Prep entered the weekend already viewed as a national prospect, but the first live period of the spring elevated him into another tier entirely. After dominant performances with Vegas Elite on the EYBL circuit, Henry added new scholarship offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina, three national brands that immediately changed the perception of his recruitment.
Henry’s recruitment has been steadily building for months, but this weekend felt like the moment blueblood programs officially entered the race. Kentucky offered after evaluating him live in Memphis, while Arkansas head coach John Calipari and his staff also extended an offer during the live period. UNC joined the mix shortly after.
Already holding offers from programs such as Ohio State, Oregon, BYU, USC, Arizona State, Louisville, and others, Henry is becoming one of the most nationally pursued players in the 2027 class.
What makes Henry so appealing to high-major programs is the versatility in his game.
At 6-foot-7 with length, fluidity, and natural athleticism, Henry projects as the modern two-way wing every major program covets. He’s a left-handed scorer who can operate in transition, attack closeouts, finish above the rim, and create offense off the bounce. His combination of size and perimeter skill immediately stands out.
During EYBL Session II, Henry consistently impacted games across multiple areas. he posted outings of 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists against Team Takeover, followed by 19 points and nine rebounds versus Team Final.
Henry rebounds well for a wing, defends multiple positions, and shows flashes as a secondary playmaker. His feel continues to improve, especially in half-court situations where he’s becoming more comfortable reading defenders and making quick decisions.
One of the biggest reasons his stock has exploded is the way his body and athletic profile project long-term. Henry still has room to add strength, but he already moves like a high-level perimeter player. His fluidity in space, stride length in transition, and ability to elevate around the rim give him significant upside.
With his length and lateral mobility, Henry has the tools to become a versatile defender capable of guarding wings, bigger guards, and potentially some small-ball forwards. Programs like Kentucky, Arkansas, and North Carolina prioritize size and switchability on the perimeter, making Henry an ideal fit stylistically.
Still early in the process, Henry’s recruitment appears wide open. Programs are just beginning to establish deeper relationships, and more national powers are expected to enter the mix throughout the summer. After Session II, however, it’s clear his recruitment has reached a different level.
The biggest takeaway from Memphis wasn’t simply that Henry earned more offers, it was that he looked comfortable performing like a future star while college basketball’s biggest brands watched from the baseline.
And for a player many evaluators already believe has top-five upside in the 2027 class, this may only be the beginning.
