2027 4-Star Chase Lumpkin Seeing Recruitment Take Off as National Powers Push Hard

One of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2027 class is officially turning into a national recruiting battle.

Chase Lumpkin, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, has become one of the hottest names on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring. The four-star guard is currently hearing heavily from programs like Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Louisville, and Florida State as his recruitment continues to surge nationally.

Lumpkin has established himself as a consensus four-star prospect and top-50 caliber player in the country.

Why Chase Lumpkin Is Blowing Up

The rise has not happened by accident.

Lumpkin exploded during EYBL play this spring, showcasing a polished all-around game that has college staffs believing he can become a high-major difference-maker. Kentucky’s staff offered shortly after a dominant Atlanta EYBL session where Lumpkin reportedly averaged 26 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and nearly three steals.

What makes Lumpkin such an intriguing prospect is the versatility in his game.

At 6-foot-4, he has the size to play either guard spot while also possessing the athleticism and shot-making ability coaches covet in modern perimeter players. He is comfortable creating offense with the ball in his hands, but he also thrives playing off movement and attacking gaps when defenses rotate.

His offensive package is advanced for a rising junior. Lumpkin changes pace well, gets downhill with strength, and consistently plays under control in traffic. He is capable of scoring at all three levels and has shown improved confidence as a perimeter shooter throughout the spring.

But evaluators are equally impressed with the rest of his game.

Lumpkin rebounds well for a guard, makes high-level reads as a passer, and competes defensively. Coaches have also raved about his leadership qualities and willingness to impact winning beyond scoring.

That complete approach is a major reason why blueblood and high-major programs are now prioritizing him.

Kentucky Emerging as a Serious Contender

Kentucky has quickly become one of the schools generating major momentum in Lumpkin’s recruitment.

The Wildcats have been involved since last summer, but things accelerated after assistant coach Mo Williams joined Mark Pope’s staff and began leading the charge. Kentucky officially offered in late April following a visit from Williams to McEachern High School.

Lumpkin has already visited Lexington multiple times and has spoken openly about how much he enjoys the environment around the program.

He has praised Kentucky’s player development, fan atmosphere, and coaching staff while noting that the Wildcats believe he could make an immediate impact at the college level.

Williams’ relationship-building has also become a major factor.

Alabama’s Style Fits Lumpkin

Alabama is another school firmly in the mix.

Lumpkin has already visited Tuscaloosa and has talked highly about Nate Oats’ system, specifically mentioning Alabama’s fast pace and NBA-style offense.

That fit makes plenty of sense.

Lumpkin’s ability to push tempo, create off the bounce, and make quick decisions aligns naturally with Alabama’s guard-friendly style. The Crimson Tide continue to recruit versatile scoring guards aggressively, and Lumpkin fits the mold of the interchangeable perimeter playmakers Oats has built around.

Georgia Hoping to Keep Him Home

The in-state push from Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball will be important to watch moving forward.

Georgia has emphasized the opportunity for Lumpkin to stay home and become an impact player early in his career. Lumpkin has said he enjoys the coaching staff and values the proximity to home.

Keeping elite Georgia talent in-state has become a major priority for the Bulldogs, and Lumpkin is clearly one of the top targets on their board.

Oregon, Louisville, and Florida State Continue Strong Pushes

Oregon continues to make Lumpkin a priority as well. He has already visited Eugene and has spoken highly about the facilities, coaching staff, and the appeal of being connected to Nike headquarters.

Meanwhile, Louisville has been heavily involved under Pat Kelsey. Assistant coach Ronnie Hamilton has developed a strong relationship with Lumpkin, and the Cardinals are pushing to get him back on campus for another visit.

Florida State has quietly been one of the longest-standing programs involved in his recruitment. Lumpkin noted that the Seminoles have stayed consistent since last summer and continue communicating regularly.

What’s Next in the Recruitment?

As his stock continues rising, more major programs are expected to enter the picture.

Right now, the schools standing out most appear to be Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Louisville, and Florida State, but this recruitment still feels wide open entering the next live periods.

One thing is certain: Chase Lumpkin is no longer an under-the-radar prospect. He is quickly becoming one of the premier guards in the entire 2027 class.
