Five-Star PG Cayden Daughtry Sets Seven Official Visits
One of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2027 class is ready to take a closer look at some of the programs prioritizing him.
Five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry has scheduled seven official visits for this fall, with trips planned to Florida State, Tennessee, Iowa, UConn, Florida, Miami and Arkansas.
Daughtry's official visit schedule:
Florida State: August 28-30
Tennessee: September 4-6
Iowa: September 11-13
UConn: September 19-21
Florida: September 25-27
Miami: October 16-18
Arkansas: October 30-November 1
The seven visits represent the next major stage of a recruitment that has exploded over the last several months. Daughtry recently included all seven programs in a top 14 that also features Kentucky, Michigan, USC, Louisville, Providence, Villanova and Vanderbilt.
Daughtry's Stock Explodes After Huge Summer
Daughtry entered the summer as an established high-major prospect, but his performances over the last few months have pushed him into another tier nationally.
The Calvary Christian Academy guard was one of the biggest stories of the summer on the Nike EYBL circuit. After leading the EYBL regular season in scoring at 25.6 points per game, Daughtry put together a dominant run at Peach Jam. He averaged 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals while shooting 58.6 percent from the field and 48.8 percent from three during the event. His run helped the Florida Rebels capture the Peach Jam championship and earned Daughtry MVP honors.
Daughtry also added international experience this summer, winning a gold medal with USA Basketball at the FIBA U17 World Cup before returning to the EYBL circuit.
At around 6-foot, Daughtry may not have the prototypical size of some other elite guards, but his production has been difficult to argue with. His ability to create separation, knock down shots from well beyond the three-point line, get downhill and generate offense for teammates has made him one of the premier point guards in the country.
Now, seven programs will get their opportunity to make an impression.
Florida State — August 28-30
Florida State gets the first crack at Daughtry, and there is significant history between the two sides.
The Seminoles were the first program to offer Daughtry, extending a scholarship offer on June 13, 2023, when Leonard Hamilton was still leading the program. New head coach Luke Loucks and his staff have continued to make Daughtry a priority rather than allowing the coaching transition to disrupt the relationship.
That continuity could be important. Florida State has been involved in this recruitment for years, and Daughtry has already been on campus previously. Now the Seminoles have the opportunity to show him exactly how he would fit into the program's new era under Loucks.
Getting the first official visit is significant. Florida State can establish the standard Daughtry uses to compare the six trips that follow.
Tennessee — September 4-6
Tennessee is one of the newer major players in Daughtry's recruitment.
The Volunteers offered Daughtry on July 13, 2026, but quickly did enough to secure a spot both in his top 14 and on his official visit schedule. Prior to setting the trip, Daughtry had not visited Tennessee, making this one of the more intriguing stops on his list.
For Tennessee, the visit will be an opportunity to turn a relatively new relationship into a serious push for one of the nation's best guards.
The Vols don't have the same length of history with Daughtry that programs such as Florida State or Iowa possess, so this visit could tell us considerably more about where Tennessee actually stands.
Iowa — September 11-13
Few programs have been connected to Daughtry as consistently as Iowa.
The Hawkeyes offered him in July 2025 and have remained heavily involved throughout his rise. Daughtry has spoken publicly about Iowa's pursuit, and his official visit was already being planned well before his Peach Jam explosion pushed him toward the very top of the national rankings.
His trip will also come during a major weekend in Iowa City. Daughtry is scheduled to be on campus when Iowa football hosts Iowa State in the Cy-Hawk rivalry game, giving the Hawkeyes an opportunity to showcase the atmosphere surrounding the entire athletic department.
Head coach Ben McCollum has made Daughtry one of Iowa's biggest priorities in the 2027 class. Landing him would be a massive recruiting victory for the program and could give Iowa a dynamic offensive centerpiece to build its backcourt around.
Among the seven visits, Iowa is one to watch closely because of how long and consistently the Hawkeyes have been involved.
UConn — September 19-21
UConn presents one of the most fascinating options on Daughtry's list.
Dan Hurley and the Huskies have established themselves as one of college basketball's premier programs, and Daughtry's competitiveness, shot-making and ability to create offense make him an intriguing fit within UConn's culture.
The Huskies have been recruiting him for some time and had already extended an offer before his massive Peach Jam performance. UConn's staff was heavily present on the summer circuit, and Daughtry emerged as one of its most significant 2027 targets.
The biggest question may be opportunity.
UConn could have multiple guards in the program when Daughtry arrives for the 2027-28 season, depending on future NBA decisions and roster movement. Of course, modern college basketball rosters can change dramatically from year to year, and a player of Daughtry's caliber would command serious consideration regardless of who else is on the roster.
UConn can offer something few programs can match: the chance to play point guard in a demanding environment built around competing for national championships.
Florida — September 25-27
Florida gives Daughtry another opportunity to remain in his home state while playing at the highest level of college basketball.
The Gators' presence on the official visit schedule shows they have become a legitimate factor in the recruitment. Florida was already being mentioned among the schools involved with Daughtry before his summer rise, and the in-state connection gives the program an obvious advantage to sell.
For Daughtry, Florida provides the opportunity to play SEC basketball without moving far from home.
The September visit should provide a much clearer indication of how strongly the Gators are positioned compared with fellow in-state contenders Florida State and Miami.
Miami — October 16-18
Miami has one of the most obvious pitches in Daughtry's recruitment: stay home and become the face of the Hurricanes' backcourt.
Daughtry attends Calvary Christian Academy in South Florida and has already visited Miami unofficially. During that earlier recruitment period, Daughtry pointed toward the Hurricanes' vision of building around guard play as something that caught his attention.
Head coach Jai Lucas and his staff have a major geographic advantage, but Miami's case goes beyond location. Daughtry's skill set fits naturally with a program willing to put the ball in the hands of a dynamic lead guard and allow him to create.
Miami has also been one of the programs most consistently connected to Daughtry throughout his recruitment. In May, when discussing which schools were contacting him the most, Daughtry included Miami alongside Iowa, Michigan, Florida State, Providence and USC.
By the time he arrives for his official visit in October, Daughtry will already have visited five other contenders. That gives Miami a chance to make a late impression while selling something none of the out-of-state programs can replicate: the opportunity to play major college basketball close to home.
Arkansas — October 30-November 1
Arkansas will get the final scheduled official visit, giving John Calipari and the Razorbacks the last opportunity to make their case.
Calipari's history recruiting elite guards makes Arkansas an especially interesting player in this battle. Daughtry is a confident scorer who wants the ball in his hands, and Arkansas can pitch him on playing under a coach with a lengthy track record of recruiting and developing high-level NBA talent.
The timing could also work in Arkansas' favor.
Daughtry will have experienced six other campuses by the time he arrives in Fayetteville. Arkansas gets the opportunity to make the final impression of his currently scheduled visits, and the Razorbacks have officially survived his cut from a much larger collection of scholarship offers to the final 14.
That makes the late-October trip one worth monitoring.
Where Does the Recruitment Stand?
Daughtry's recruitment still has plenty of moving pieces.
While seven programs have secured official visits, his top 14 means Kentucky, Michigan, USC, Louisville, Providence, Villanova and Vanderbilt remain under consideration despite not currently appearing on the official visit schedule.
There is also evidence that several programs have built particularly strong foundations.
Iowa has recruited him aggressively for an extended period and was one of the earliest schools to lock in an official visit. Florida State owns the distinction of being his first scholarship offer and has maintained the relationship through a coaching change. Miami offers proximity to home and has been consistently involved. UConn can sell its championship-level culture and development. Florida provides another major in-state option. Tennessee has quickly gained ground despite entering later, while Arkansas gets the valuable final visit and the opportunity to make Calipari's pitch.
There doesn't appear to be a reason to call this recruitment for anyone yet.
What has changed is Daughtry's stature.
A recruitment that once centered on a highly regarded four-star point guard has transformed into a national battle for one of the premier players in high school basketball. His performances with USA Basketball and the Florida Rebels, particularly his Peach Jam run, have established Daughtry as one of the defining guards of the 2027 cycle.
His next evaluation won't come from scouts.
It will come from Daughtry himself.
Over a little more than two months, he'll travel from Tallahassee to Knoxville, Iowa City, Storrs, Gainesville, Miami and Fayetteville, comparing coaching staffs, offensive systems, roster situations, development plans and his comfort level with each program.
With seven official visits on the calendar and some of college basketball's biggest programs pursuing him, Cayden Daughtry's recruitment is officially entering its most important stretch yet.
