2027 Five-Star Ryan Hampton Sets Four Official Visits: Ole Miss, NC State, Nebraska, and SMU

One of the premier prospects in high school basketball is ready to turn his recruitment up another notch.

Ryan Hampton, a five-star standout in the Class of 2027, has scheduled four official visits for early March, lining up a fast, high-profile tour that will take him to NC State, Ole Miss, SMU, and Nebraska.

Hampton, an explosive 6-foot-6 perimeter talent, has quickly become one of the most coveted juniors in the country. He is thenNo. 5 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 1 small forward in the 2027 class.

The official visit schedule (March 2026)

According to Hampton’s visit listings, his four official visits are stacked tightly across the first week of March:

  • NC State — March 2, 2026

  • Ole Miss — March 3, 2026

  • SMU — March 4, 2026

  • Nebraska — March 8, 2026

The headliner on the slate comes immediately: Hampton’s trip to Raleigh is set for March 2, when NC State hosts Duke, giving him a marquee game-day atmosphere right out of the gate.

Who is Ryan Hampton?

Hampton is currently playing at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida, and his profile reflects the modern, national recruiting footprint, a Rockwall, Texas native starring on one of the country’s most visible prep stages.

Physically, Hampton fits the prototype programs chase in the NIL/portal era: a long, versatile wing who can impact winning early.

On the court, Hampton’s production and style match the ranking. His strong December showing at Grind Session Dallas, pointing to his ability to score at all three levels, mid-range, from three, and in transition, while playing with an aggressive, attack-first approach that fits tempo-driven systems.

Why these four schools?

Official visits matter because they usually signal real traction, especially when a top prospect chooses a compact stretch of dates. And the mix here is fascinating: two SEC/ACC brands, a surging Big Ten program, and a Dallas-based ACC newcomer with strong momentum.

NC State gets the first impression, and a major one. The Wolfpack offered Hampton in June 2025, and now they’ll host him for one of the biggest home environments possible with Duke in town.

Ole Miss is next, and the Rebels have been working to establish themselves as a serious player on the national recruiting trail under head coach Chris Beard (hired in March 2023). Getting Hampton on campus for an official is a statement opportunity.

SMU is positioned uniquely, close to Hampton’s Texas roots and increasingly aggressive in basketball investment.

Nebraska rounds out the list with a March 8 official. Hampton’s Nebraska stop jumps off the page because it signals mutual interest, an elite national recruit giving the Huskers real time and a real evaluation window.

What to watch next

Because the visits are so tightly grouped, Hampton’s recruitment could see movement quickly after this run, whether that’s a narrowed list, more officials added, or a timeline clarification heading into spring and summer. At minimum, the early March stretch will give each staff a clean opportunity to make its best case while Hampton experiences four very different environments in rapid succession.
