2027 4-Star Antonio Pemberton Has Four Official Visits Remaining as Recruitment Enters Critical Stretch

2027 four-star point guard Antonio Pemberton is entering one of the most important stretches of his recruitment, with four official visits still remaining on his schedule.

The 6-foot-1 guard has emerged as one of the top point guards in the 2027 class and has narrowed his recruitment to eight finalists: Michigan State, Ohio State, Boston College, UCLA, Kansas, Tennessee, Creighton and Marquette. 

After already making stops at Tennessee, Kansas and Creighton this fall, Pemberton's next four official visits will take him to Michigan State, Ohio State, Boston College and UCLA.

His remaining schedule:

• Michigan State: September 11-13

• Ohio State: September 18-20

• Boston College: September 25-27

• UCLA: October 23-25 (sotwe)

A Dynamic Lead Guard

Pemberton has built his reputation as a scoring point guard capable of controlling a game with the ball in his hands.

His summer performance with Mass Rivals helped elevate his national profile. During the adidas 3SSB circuit, Pemberton averaged 24 points per game, the highest scoring average on the circuit, while earning Offensive MVP honors and helping Mass Rivals reach the championship game.

He continued that momentum at the adidas ABCD Camp. Pemberton stood out as the best lead guard on the floor, showing an ability to create his own shot and take over stretches of a game. He scored 25 points in one of the camp's scrimmages and knocked down a deep three at the halftime buzzer.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Pemberton's offensive game is his ability to score at multiple levels. He is comfortable operating in the mid-range, has improved his consistency from three-point range and has shown the ability to manipulate defenses as a primary ball-handler. 

That combination gives him the potential to become more than simply a traditional floor general at the next level.

Michigan State

Pemberton's first remaining stop will be East Lansing, where he will officially visit Michigan State from September 11-13.

The Spartans have been heavily involved in his recruitment and view Pemberton as an important target for the future of their backcourt. His visit will also coincide with Michigan State's "Grind Week," giving Pemberton an opportunity to experience the program and its culture in a particularly unique setting.

For Tom Izzo and his staff, the appeal is obvious. Pemberton's ability to create offense, handle pressure and score from all three levels fits the type of guard Michigan State can build around.

The Spartans will be looking to use the official visit to show Pemberton how he could develop within their system while also establishing a strong relationship with the coaching staff.

Ohio State

One week later, Pemberton will travel to Columbus for an official visit with Ohio State from September 18-20. 

The Buckeyes made Pemberton's final eight and have continued to pursue him as one of the more highly regarded point guards in the class.

Ohio State's opportunity will center on showing Pemberton the role he could have in the program. For a guard who thrives when he can make decisions with the ball, the ability to demonstrate a clear developmental and offensive plan could be particularly important.

Pemberton's visit also comes during a stretch in which Ohio State is actively recruiting several highly regarded guards in the 2027 class, making the competition for future backcourt pieces particularly interesting.

Boston College

Boston College represents an especially intriguing option in Pemberton's recruitment.

The Eagles will host him September 25-27, and the relationship between the two sides has developed considerably. Pemberton previously made an unofficial visit to Chestnut Hill and has been on the radar of Boston College head coach Luke Murray.

Boston College has the opportunity to make a major impression during the official visit because of the familiarity already established between Pemberton and the program.

For the Eagles, landing a player of Pemberton's caliber would be a significant statement for the program under Murray. Pemberton's ability to create offense and operate as a lead guard could also make him an important potential centerpiece of the Eagles' future backcourt.

UCLA

The final stop on Pemberton's current official visit schedule will be UCLA from October 23-25.

The Bruins entered the recruitment more recently than some of the other finalists, extending Pemberton an offer in July. Despite that later entry, Mick Cronin and his staff have moved quickly to establish themselves as legitimate contenders.

The UCLA visit will be particularly important because it comes after Pemberton has had the opportunity to see several other finalists in person.

By October, he should have a much clearer understanding of what each program offers, making his trip to Westwood an opportunity for UCLA to separate itself from the competition.

Where Things Stand

Pemberton's recruitment has already undergone significant changes over the past year.

He previously took an official visit to Marquette and an unofficial visit to Boston College, while Utah was also heavily involved earlier in the process. By late July, however, Pemberton had narrowed his focus to eight programs.

He has now embarked on an extensive official-visit tour that includes all seven of his remaining finalists, with Marquette having already received an official visit previously.

Pemberton has also indicated that he would like to make his college decision before the start of his senior season, adding even more significance to the upcoming stretch of visits.

With four official visits still remaining, there is plenty of time for the recruitment to shift. Michigan State, Ohio State, Boston College and UCLA will each have an opportunity to make their case, while Kansas, Tennessee, Creighton and Marquette remain major factors.

Ultimately, Pemberton's decision will likely come down to which program can best demonstrate that it can develop him into the dynamic lead guard he has shown the potential to become.

The next chapter begins in East Lansing on September 11.
